Wu Hufan

  • Wu Hufan, originally named Yi Yan, courtesy name Yujun, later changed his name to Wan, and his pseudonym was Dongzhuang. He also used the name Qian and signed his works as Hufan. Born in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, he was an important figure in modern Chinese painting and also a renowned expert in calligraphy and painting appraisal.

    • Wu Zuoren

      Wu Zuoren (吳作人), originally from Jing County, Anhui, and born in Suzhou, Jiangsu, was a highly accomplished Chinese artist, skilled in both oil painting and traditional Chinese painting. In 1960, he became a professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and was appointed the first academic dean. Later, he served as the vice president, president, and eventually the honorary president of the academy. Wu Zuoren made significant contributions to the development of Chinese art education, and many prominent artists, including Wang Mingming, Chen Yuxian, and Liu Dawei, sought his guidance.

      Chen Shuren was born in Panyu Guangdong. He was the veteran of the Xinhai Revolution, one of the founders of the Lingnan Painting School. He was good at landscape and flowers. Together with Gao Jianfu and Gao Qifeng, they were known as the three great modern masters of Lingnan.

    • Zhang Daqian

      Zhang Daqian, courtesy name Ji Yuan, and Buddhist name Daqian, was a renowned Chinese modern artist born in Neijiang, Sichuan, with ancestral roots in Panyu, Guangdong. His reputation in poetry, calligraphy, and painting, alongside Qi Baishi and Pu Xinyu, earned him the titles “Southern Zhang, Northern Qi” and “Southern Zhang, Northern Pu.” Together with Huang Junbi and Pu Xinyu, he was also known as one of the "Three Masters Crossing the Sea."

      Xiao Xun (1883-1944), courtesy name Qianzhong and art name Dailong Shanqu, was a modern painter born in Huaining County, Anhui Province. In his youth, he studied landscape painting under Jiang Yun. He was known for his technique of layering paints multiple times in his landscape paintings.
