Yun Shouping

  • Yun Shouping, courtesy name was Shou Ping, art name was Nan Tian, a prominent modern painter and calligrapher of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, a founder of Changzhou School of Painting. Later he became one of the six great landscape painters in early Qing Dynasty “Qing Liu Jia”.

      Gao Qipei (1672-1734), courtesy name was Wei Zhi, art name was Nan Cun, born in Tieling Liaoning. He was the teacher of Li Shan who was one of the eight eccentrics of Yangzhou “Yangzhou Ba Guai”. He had a great talent for art and was good at poetry and painting. The human figures, bird-and-flowers and insects of his works were painted delicately with brilliant colors. In his youth he learned traditional painting, and his landscape and human figure painting were influenced by Wu Wei.
