SHIMAMOTO SHOZO, contemporary artist, born in Osaka. He produced "Breaking Open the Object" in which he filled glass bottles with paint and shattered them on an upstretched canvas beneath him. Also he performed to drop paint from a helicopter. Major Collections: Tate Modern Museum; National Museum of Modern Art, Rome; Centre Georges Pompidou; Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo; Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art; The National Museum of Art, Osaka.
