Introduce:

In 2024, the 50th anniversary of the sister-city partnership between Osaka City and Shanghai City will be celebrated. To commemorate this milestone, the Osaka Municipal Museum of Oriental Ceramics will host a special exhibition titled "Chinese Ceramics - A Brilliant Competition of Treasures: Shanghai Museum × Osaka Municipal Museum of Oriental Ceramics", co-organized with the Shanghai Museum.

In this exhibition, 50 masterpieces of Chinese ceramics will be showcased, including 22 works that will be publicly displayed for the first time in Japan (19 of which are being shown outside of China for the first time). This exhibition brings together the supreme collections of both the Shanghai Museum, a world-renowned temple of Chinese ceramics, and the Osaka Municipal Museum of Oriental Ceramics. Through this exhibition, visitors will have the rare opportunity to appreciate the essence of Chinese ceramics, a treasure of enduring history, and explore its continuing charm, offering new insights and discoveries of beauty even today.
