DONALD JUDD, an American painter, sculptor, artist, and art critic of the 20th century.Initially, he worked as a painter and printmaker and was highly regarded in the field of art criticism. Over time, he transitioned to creating three-dimensional works. His pure geometric forms, such as box-like sculptures, influenced many artists, architects, and designers. Opposing the chaotic emotional expression of Abstract Expressionism, he became one of the leading figures of Minimal Art, aiming for its antithesis.
Major Collections: Kunstmuseum Basel, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim Museum, S.M.A.K. Museum of Contemporary Art, the Tate, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
