    Provenance: Private Collection, Kanto Region
    YAMAGUCHI TAKEO, a Western-style painter and a pioneer of abstract painting in Japan, won the Excellence Prize at the First Contemporary Art Exhibition of Japan in 1954 and the Minister of Education's Art Encouragement Prize in 1962. He exhibited his works at international exhibitions, including the American Abstract Art Exhibition at the Riverside Museum in New York in 1954, the São Paulo Biennale in 1954, the Venice Biennale in 1956, the 2nd Guggenheim Prize Art Exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in 1958, and the São Paulo Biennale in 1963.
