    KABURAKI KIYOKATA, ukiyo-e artist, Japanese-style painter, and essayist from the Meiji to Showa period. He is regarded alongside UEMURA SHOEN and ITO SHINSUI as one of the most famous modern Japanese painters of beautiful woman. Most of his works are portraits, and many of them are genre paintings depicting the customs of Edo and Tokyo in the Meiji period. Three of his masterpieces has been designated as national important cultural properties.
