    • Wang Rong

      Wang Liu, Chinese characters meaning "Shin Sheng" and his family name meaning "Manichuan villager", was originally from Wei County, Anhui Province. He was a student in Lanxi, Zhejiang Province when he was young, and later lived by painting maritime paintings and charcoal drawings, teaching at Beijing Hua Fine Arts School, Beijing Fu-Jen University Fine Arts Department, and Beijing Normal University from 1934. During the Republic of China period, he became as famous as Chen Hanting and Wang Xuetao.

      Chen Banding, courtesy name was Jing Shan and Jing Lu, art name was Zhuhuan Jushi and Shen Weng, born in Shaoxing Zhejiang. He grew up in a poor family and moved to Shanghai to make a living in 1894, and through the introduction of an acquaintance, he met Ren Bonin and Wu Changshuo. He learned painting techniques from them, in addition, Wu Guxiang, Wu Shixian, Gao Yongzhi, Lu Lianfu and other scholars. He worked at the Peking University Library after 40 years old. Later, he became a professor at the National Beiping Art College. In the 1940s, he participated in numerous exhibitions and charities. Since the 1950s, he served as the vice director of the Beijing Chinese Painting Institute, the chairman of the Chinese Painting Study Group, the director of the Chinese Artists Association, the researcher of the Chinese Artists Association, the staff of the Central Literature Museum, the member of the Committee for Reforming the Chinese Written Language, the member of the Third China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the member of the Second, Third and Fourth of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He was good at painting flowers and landscapes, calligraphy and seal carving. His well-known works are “Loquats of perpetual summer” and “Yellow flowers”.

      Ma Wanli, courtesy names are Yunfu and Manlu, art name is Danian, was born in Wujin, Changzhou, Jiangsu. He was a famous painting and seal curving artist and art educator. He left legacies with poet, painting, calligraphy and seal curving. He is famous for especially flower-and-bird painting and one of the greatest artists of China.

    • Wang Shensheng

      Wang Shensheng, whose name is Rong and courtesy name Shensheng was a master of flowers and birds in the Republic of China. He once made a living by painting charcoal paintings in Shanghai. Wang Shensheng is good at flowers and birds, landscapes and can be freehand brushwork as well as freehand brushwork. He is especially famous in the painting circle for his small freehand flower and bird paintings. During the Republic of China, it was as famous as Chen Banding and Wang Xuetao.

      Pu Jin (1893-1966), of the Manchu ethnic group, with the surname Aisin Gioro, courtesy name Xuezhai, and pen names Nanshi, Suiyuan, Leshan, Songfeng Zhuren, and Qintu, was born in Beijing. His art names were Yiqingtang and Songfeng Caotang. Influenced by his family, he studied calligraphy and painting from a young age.

      Qi Baishi (1864-1957), courtesy name was Wei Qing, art name was Bin Sheng, Jiping Laoren and Baishi Shanren, a prominent contemporary Chinese painter. He became a painter from a carpenter and he succeeded in painting. Many of his works had plants and animals.

    • Yan Bolong

      Yan Bolong, a Manchu from the Plain Yellow Banner, was a native of Beijing. His given name was Yunlin, his courtesy name was Bolong (used as his common name), and his pseudonym was Changbai Buyi (Long White Cloth Scholar). He resided in a place called Chuncao Tang (Spring Grass Hall). During the Republic of China period, Yan was a prominent figure in the Beijing-Tianjin painting school, renowned for his bird-and-flower paintings. He was also skilled in landscapes, figures, feathers, and animals. Yan disliked officialdom and preferred to live as an ordinary scholar, devoting himself to painting. Due to his ancestral roots in Changbai, he became known as Changbai Buyi (Long White Cloth Scholar).

    • Xiao Xun

      Xiao Xun (1883-1944), courtesy name Qianzhong and art name Dailong Shanqu, was a modern painter born in Huaining County, Anhui Province. In his youth, he studied landscape painting under Jiang Yun. He was known for his technique of layering paints multiple times in his landscape paintings.
