Tong Qichang
Tang Qichang (1555-1636), courtesy name was Xuan Zai, art name was Si Bai and Xiangguang Jushi, born in Huating. He wsa talented and had great abilities in poetry, calligraphy and painting. He preferred painting landscape, and put emphasis on traditional techniques, and pursued brushstrokes and color to create beautiful works. His works had a great influence on the art world in the Late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, and also on the present day, they are still being pursued by collectors all over the world.

Donggao Xinyue
Donggao Xunyue, courtesy name was Xin Yue, art name was Dong Gao, born in Pujiang Zhejiang. He was good at calligraphy, painting and seal carving, and was also talented at music. Since he came to Japan, he had great influence on Japanese culture. He founded the Shou Changyi School of the Caodong Zen Buddhism sect, and he socialized a wide range of Japanese monks. He transmitted the Guqin music (a plucked seven-string musical instrument) which had lost its tradition in Japan. He also learned Japanese, and transmitted Japanese poem Waka and Haiku to the world.
