  • Liu Jiyou

    Liu Jiyou was a native of Tianjin and a lianhuanhua (comic-style illustration) artist, acclaimed as one of the founders of New China’s lianhuanhua art. Born in Shanghai, he was also a renowned Chinese calligrapher. After 1962, he served at the Palace Museum as Assistant Technician, Assistant Research Fellow, Associate Research Curator, and Research Curator, and received a special government allowance.

    XU BEIHONG, Chinese painter, born in Jiangsu. He studied in France and learned Western art techniques. His works of ink and wash painting were mainly of horses and birds, and his powerful horse paintings are especially famous.
