[Overview]
This exhibition examines how Surrealism expanded beyond traditional visual arts—such as painting, sculpture, and photography—into fields including advertising, fashion, and interior design.
Surrealism, first articulated by André Breton in 1924, sought to create a new reality grounded in dreams, subconscious imagery, and the liberation of imagination.
Comprising six thematic chapters, the exhibition features works from both Japanese and international collections, spanning paintings, photographs, posters, furniture, fashion items, and more. Through this broad range of materials, the exhibition explores the far-reaching influence of Surrealism on modern society, visual culture, and contemporary ways of living.
