  SALVADOR DALI, Spanish Catalan painter. He is known as one of the leading Surrealist artists. With extraordinary talent and imagination, he painted dreamlike landscapes, using realistic drawing techniques but also multiple images and other techniques. His works include not only paintings but also sculptures and objects.
  
  Space Venus (modelled in 1977; cast in 1984) is a late bronze sculpture in which Salvador Dali reinterprets the classical Venus through a distinctly Surrealist lens. Based on the idealised female torso of antiquity, the figure is transformed through its fragmented bodily structure, the alien-like element at the neck, and the egg-shaped motif positioned before the abdomen, shifting the body from a naturalistic presence into a dreamlike and highly symbolic form. Within Dali visual vocabulary, the egg is a key symbol associated with the origin of life, generation, and metamorphosis; placed at the centre of the body, it strongly evokes ideas of birth and renewal. The polished bronze surface softly reflects light, while the continuous curvature of the sculpted volumes imparts a sense of latent movement and organic vitality to the otherwise static figure.
