KURODA TAIZO, a Japanese ceramic artist. In 1967, while in France, he met Shimaoka Tatsuzo, who introduced him to Canadian ceramic artist Gaétan Beaudin. Under Beaudin's guidance, Kuroda began ceramics. He spent much of his early career in Canada before returning to Japan in 1980. The next year, he built a kiln in Matsuzaki, Shizuoka, and in 1984, established Ceramic Studio TAIZO in Shibuya. In 1988, he moved to Ito, Shizuoka, dedicating himself to white porcelain. From 1991, he focused entirely on white porcelain, pursuing its essence. In later years, he created works like Cylinder, exploring pure artistic expression beyond functionality.
