  DOMOTO HISAO, whose uncle is the Japanese painter DOMOTO INSHO. He studied Japanese painting at Kyoto Municipal College of Fine Arts, and moved to Paris in 1952, where he switched to Western-style painting and became an active Unformel painter. He formed friendships with IMAI TOSHIMITSU and SUGAI KUMI. In 2007, he was selected as a Person of Cultural Merit.
