YABUUCHI SATOSHI, is a Japanese sculptor known for integrating classical tradition with contemporary expression. A graduate and former faculty member of Tokyo University of the Arts, his work is rooted in the refined sense of volume and harmonious proportion found in Tenpyō-period Buddhist sculpture. Working primarily in bronze, he combines smooth, restrained surfaces with dynamic balance, creating forms that are tranquil yet powerfully present. By emphasizing elements such as the head, limbs, or wings, he heightens symbolic meaning and spatial tension, achieving a sculptural language that is both mythical and distinctly contemporary.
