HENRI JEAN THÉODORE FANTIN-LATOUR was a French painter known for his realist style excelling in still lifes and portraits. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and maintained a distinctive realist approach during the rise of Impressionism. He is especially acclaimed for his delicate and subdued-toned flower still lifes. Additionally, his famous "group portraits" depicted Barbizon School painters, poets, and writers, leaving many portraits of important figures in 19th-century French art. His works are characterized by precise brushwork and serene beauty, securing a unique place in late 19th-century French art.
