    LI XIAOGANG is an oil painter from Beijing, China. After graduating from the PLA Academy of Arts in 1983, he studied oil painting techniques at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1987. In 1989, he came to Japan and pursued research in tempera painting at Osaka Kyoiku University, completing his master's degree in 1993. He currently serves as Vice Director of the Li Keran Academy of Painting and Director of the Western Painting Techniques Research Department, and is a member of the China Artists Association. His works are characterized by symbolism and tranquility, with notable pieces including Frozen River and Legend of Lugu Lake. In 2001, he created the large mural Three Amitabha Buddhas in the Snow Mountains at Isshinji Temple in Osaka. His realistic technique and spiritual depth have earned him high acclaim in both China and Japan.
