MIKI TOMIO is a Japanese sculptor whose artistic endeavors have had a significant impact on the art world in the latter half of the 20th century. Beginning in 1963, he focused on creating works with the theme of "ears," drawing attention for their originality and distinctive style. Miki had no affiliation with any contemporary art movements at the time, insisting on charting his own path, which was unique and rare in post-war Japanese art.

His works predominantly feature the left ear, employing various sizes and shapes for representation. Materials primarily include aluminum alloy and reinforced plastics, ranging from life-sized human ears to enormous pieces up to 170 centimeters in height. His works have been exhibited four times at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, highlighting the high regard he has received overseas.

Major collection institutions include the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, the National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo, the National Museum of Art Osaka, the National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto, and the Nagoya City Art Museum.
