ARAKI TAKAKO, Japanese contemporary ceramic artist. She took over the family business of Japanese flower arrangement, but in 1956 opened Hakuho Gallery in Osaka, specializing in contemporary art. In 1961, she moved to the U.S. to study sculpture in New York, and after returning to Japan, she began working with ceramics. She devised a method of silk-screen printing on ceramics, and his ceramic works depicting the broken Bible have been highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad.
