Miu Rizao

  • Miao Yizao, courtesy name Wenzi and sobriquet Nanyou Jushi, named his residence Miao Jinzhai. His ancestors were from Wuxian (present-day Suzhou), and he also lived in Wuxian, Jiangsu. He was the son of Imperial Lecturer Miao Tong. In the 54th year of the Kangxi reign (1715), he passed the jinshi examination and was appointed as an editor, eventually serving as the Eastern Palace Xima. His family had a rich collection of calligraphy, paintings, and stone inscriptions, and he was skilled in appraisal and authentication.
