Ruofen Yujian

Ruofen Yugjian was a monk and painter in the late Southern Song period. His secular surname was Cao, and he was a native of Wuzhou (modern-day Jinhua, Zhejiang). He entered Tianzhu Temple in Lin’an and became a monk at the age of nine, receiving the Dharma name Yugjian and the style name Zhongshi. Throughout his life, he traveled widely across scenic landscapes, faithfully sketching every view he encountered.
