Liu Yazi

Liu Yazi was a native of Lili Town in Wujiang, Jiangsu Province, with his ancestral home in Dasheng Village, Beishe, Fenhu Town, also in Wujiang. His original name was Weigao, and his early courtesy name was Anru. He later changed his courtesy name to Renquan and adopted the sobriquet Yalu. He subsequently changed his name to Qiji, his courtesy name to Jiaxuan, and his sobriquet to Yazi. He was a modern Chinese politician, democratic activist, and poet. In 1903, he joined the Chinese Educational Association and later became a member of both the Tongmenghui and the Guangfuhui.
