YOSHIHARA HIDEO, a Japanese painter and printmaker, studied Western painting at the Osaka Municipal Institute of Fine Art. He apprenticed under his relative, Jiro Yoshihara, and joined the founding of the Gutai Art Association, later withdrawing the following year. In 1955, he joined the Democrat Artists Association with Ei-Q and Shigeru Izumi. Around this time, he began creating prints, initially focusing on lithography before expanding to copperplate prints. His works often feature women and still life, depicting fictional spaces with a sense of immediacy.
