Yu Huang

Yu Huang, courtesy name Wuzhen, was a native of Kuaiji in Zhejiang (present-day Shaoxing) and an official during the late Ming dynasty in China. From a young age, he was ambitious, diligent in study, and widely read. In the 5th year of the Tianqi era under the Ming Emperor Xizong (1625), he placed first in the imperial examination (as Zhuangyuan) and was appointed as a Compiler in the Hanlin Academy.
