Su Jiankuan

Su Jiankuan, courtesy name Shoren and art name Kaopanzi, was a native of Zhenjiang, Jiangsu. He excelled in calligraphy and mastered all major styles, including seal script (zhuan), clerical script (li), regular script (zhen), and running script (xing). He was also skilled in painting, especially in rendering antiquities and rubbings of ancient bronzes, as well as in the decorative technique of "Jinhuidui" (collages made from ash or scraps), producing works that were vivid and uncanny in appearance. He was also proficient in seal carving. He passed away during the Second Sino-Japanese War.
