Xue Susu

• Xue Susu, originally from Suzhou (some say Jiaxing), lived in Nanjing for an extended period. She was a courtesan and artist active during the Wanli era of the Ming dynasty. Her paintings of landscapes and orchids-and-bamboo were highly praised by figures such as Zhu Yizun and Dong Qichang.
