Ren Xia was a female painter active in the Shanghai art circle from the late Qing dynasty to the Republic of China period. She was the daughter of Ren Bonian, a renowned modern painter. Inheriting her family’s artistic tradition, her style closely followed that of her father. She specialized in figure painting, landscapes, and bird-and-flower subjects. Her works are characterized by meticulous and calm compositions with fresh and elegant coloring. She was regarded as one of the leading female painters in the domestic art circles.
