SHIMAHATA MITSUGU

• SHIMAHATA MITSUGU is a sculptor born in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. After graduating from Osaka University of Arts, he created numerous works, mainly in Shiga Prefecture. He has received numerous awards, including the Nitten Special Selection in 1989 and 1991, the Nichicho Prize, the Heiwado Foundation Art Encouragement Award, and the Shiga Prefecture Cultural Encouragement Award. In 2023, he won the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for Angel’s Poem Shunyo. His works are characterized by a gentle and natural expression, providing warmth and comfort to viewers.
