Ma Yu

Ma Yu (courtesy name Yizhi, alias Huafa Xianren) was nicknamed "Ma Qingchi" by the people. He was from Jiading (now part of Shanghai). In the 8th year of the Tian Shun reign (1464), he became a successful candidate in the imperial examinations and served as a secretary in the Ministry of Justice. He was skilled in poetry, excelled in calligraphy, and was proficient in landscape painting, leaving behind masterpieces.
