Xiang Wei Ren

  • Xiang Weiren (originally named Xu, courtesy name Shouchun, alias Mianxuan, and later known as Guoyuan) was a famous folk artist and poet from Wenzhou during the mid-Qing Dynasty. He was skilled in both poetry and painting, particularly known for his technique of "Pima Cun" (a type of brushstroke). Dong Zhengyang from Taishun praised his paintings for their dense and somber atmosphere, calling him "the first of Yongjia in this era." In addition, Xiang was also skilled in architecture and designed the Zengyuan garden.
