Quan Xiu

  • Quan Xiu was a monk during the Qing Dynasty, originally from Kunshan (Songjiang, Jiangsu). His family name was Li, and his given name was Zichai, with the courtesy name Ersheng, and his alias was Mengquan Daoren. He was originally a scholar during the Ming Dynasty and was known for his filial piety towards his mother. After the fall of the Ming Dynasty, he shaved his head and became a monk. He was skilled in poetry and painting, particularly in figure painting and flower-and-bird painting, and was also proficient in the regular script (Bafeng calligraphy).
