Wen Ding

  • Wen Ding was a calligrapher, painter, and seal carver during the Qing Dynasty. His courtesy name was Xuekuang, and his alias was Houshan. He was from Xiushui (now Jiaxing, Zhejiang). A scholar of humble status, he lived in a house called "Tingxue Jiuzhi." He was highly skilled in鉴别 (identification and appraisal) and collected many fine works of inscriptions, calligraphy, and paintings.
