• KONSTANTIN MAKSIMOV, a Russian-born painter, created works like "Founding a Home," "Young Underground Workers," and "Liu Hulan," which are key achievements in 1950s oil painting and significant in New China's art education history. From 1955 to 1957, as an advisor to the Central Academy of Fine Arts, he trained a generation of students and faculty.
