TAKATA HIROATSU, a sculptor and writer from Ishikawa Prefecture. Before World War II, he went to France to study art and remained there after the war, working as a newspaper reporter. He was known for his works focused on wood and stone carving, pouring his passion into delicately expressing the shapes of nature. His works reflected Japan's traditions and culture while blending modernism with Japanese elements. He was also active as a thinker, writer, and translator, and his deep thoughts influenced many people.
