Qian Zhongshu

Qian Zhongshu (錢鍾書), originally named Yangxian (仰先), with the initials Zheliang (哲良), later changed his name to Zhongshu (鍾書), with the initials Mocun (默存), and the number Samuel J. (槐聚). He was a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. He is a modern Chinese scholar and writer, and is known as a ‘scholar of erudition’ and ‘Kunlun of culture’, together with Jao Tsung-I, he is also known as ‘Jao in the South and Qian in the North’.
