-
Qian Gu (styled Shubao, and also known by the pseudonym Xuanqing Shi) was from Wu County. His family had no books or classical texts, so he became a disciple of Wen Zhengming, a renowned scholar. He would read books daily from the shelves of Wen Zhengming’s collection. He recorded nearly 10,000 volumes of ancient texts, including classical writings and epigraphs (inscriptions on stones), making a significant contribution to the preservation and study of historical documents.
