SUI JIANGUO

• SUI JIANGUO, a sculptor from China, is recognized as a pioneer of 'Conceptual Art', emphasizing the conceptual aspects of his works. Despite aspiring to be a scientist in his youth, he encountered a sculptor while visiting Qingdao the year before his university entrance exams, igniting his interest in sculpture and prompting him to begin studying its fundamentals. To challenge the conventional notions of sculpture, he started creating works using unconventional materials such as rocks, rebar, and rubber, thereby establishing a new era of contemporary sculpture in China and gaining widespread acclaim.
