Miao Yin was a Zen monk during the Yuan Dynasty, known by the pseudonym Bie Chuan. He was a successor of the Linji school of Zen. In the early years of the Yuan Zhizheng era, he traveled to Japan. Initially, he stayed at Ken'nin Temple, promoting the teachings of his tradition. He later moved to Jōchi-ji Temple in Kamakura, where he built the Daien-an for seclusion. His school of Zen became known as the "Bie Chuan school" and became one of the twenty-four sects of Japanese Zen.
