Song Ziyan

Song Ziyan, whose personal name was Yue and alias was Shigeng, was from Zhejiang Province. He was a Qing Dynasty painter who went to Japan in 1758 and settled in Nagasaki. A disciple of Shen Nanping, Song was known for his skill in blending Western painting styles with traditional Chinese flower-and-bird painting techniques. He became a prominent leader of the Nanpai (Southern School) of painting in Japan.
