Wu Xuezao

Wu Xuezao, courtesy name Yongyun, was from Shunde, Guangdong. He was a graduate of the imperial examination during the Daoguang period and served as the head of Xuehaitang Academy. He was skilled in both calligraphy and painting, excelling in landscapes, figures, and flowers and birds. He was particularly adept at painting lychees, red cotton flowers, and creating fine-line (baimiao) figure drawings. His calligraphy was powerful and graceful.
