UCHIDA KOUICHI

  • UCHIDA KOICHI, ceramic artist born in Aichi, Japan. After living in art studios around the world and acquiring skills locally, he established his own studio and kiln in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture in 1992, and was awarded the 2019 Ceramic Society of Japan Prize. He is active in solo exhibitions at museums and galleries in Japan and abroad.

    • ARAKI TAKAKO

      ARAKI TAKAKO, Japanese contemporary ceramic artist. She took over the family business of Japanese flower arrangement, but in 1956 opened Hakuho Gallery in Osaka, specializing in contemporary art. In 1961, she moved to the U.S. to study sculpture in New York, and after returning to Japan, she began working with ceramics. She devised a method of silk-screen printing on ceramics, and his ceramic works depicting the broken Bible have been highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad.
