ITO SHINSUI

  • ITO SHINSUI, Japanese ukiyoe artist, Japanese-stly painter, and paintmaker of the Taisho and Showa period. His real name is Ito Hajime. He was a continuation of the legitimacy of the Utagawa school of Ukiyoe, and famous for his paintings of beautiful woman with a soft expression unique to Japanese-style painting. He produced many works depicting his wife as a model, and his gain a high reputation. After the war, many of his works were distributed as reproductions.
