Wang Mengbai

• Wang Mengbai (1888-1934), a Chinese modern calligrapher, other name was other name was Yun, courtesy name was Meng Bai, art name was Pozhai Zhuren and San Daoren, born in Quzhou Zhejiang. During childhood, he studied painting enthusiastically while apprenticing at a lantern shop and Qianzhuang which is private Chinese banks. His residence is called Yingxue Pavilion, also known as Sanqu Reading Painting Building.

  • Wu Changshuo

    Wu Changshuo (1844-1927), a prominent Chinese calligrapher, painter and seal carver of the late Qing Dynasty, formerly known as Jun Qing, courtesy name was Changshuo, art name was Kutie, born in Anji Zhejiang. In his childhood, he was influenced by his father and began to like painting and seal carving. He learned regular script from Yan Lugong and Zhong Yuanchang, clerical script from Han Dynasty stone carving, seal script from Tang Dynasty stone carving. The brushwork was influenced by Deng Shiru and Zhao Zhiqian. He was good at painting flowers and had a unique style of painting such as brush movement and composition. In ink brushes, flowers such as plums and peony, trees and stones were noble and beautiful, and his brushstrokes were vigorous and breathtaking.

  • Huang Shanshou

    Huang Shanshou, courtesy name was Xu Chu, art name was Xu Daoren, Xuchi Laoren and Li Sheng, born in Wujin Jiangsu. In his childhood, he grew up in poor family, and became interested in calligraphy and painting. He was attracted by Zheng Xie and Yun Shouping, and he often painted women, landscapes, bird-and-flowers, animals and insects.
