      Lü Ji, styled Tingzhen and also known by the art name Leyu, was from Ningbo and a painter of the Ming dynasty. He loved painting and excelled in bird-and-flower paintings. He studied closely under Bian Jingzhao and was also influenced by the Southern Song imperial painting academy style, refining its essence. He specialized in painting phoenixes, cranes, peacocks, and mandarin ducks, mastering both meticulous gongbi and expressive ink-wash techniques, with bright colors and lively vitality.
