  • Gu Bokui, nicknamed Jiufeng Layman, old man of Pianshizhai. Yangzhou people. At the age of nine, he studied painting with his uncle Zhu Xian, who became a monk at Jinshan Temple in Zhenjiang, and traveled around the world. At the age of 18, he started painting independently, and absorbed the strengths of famous artists such as Shi Tao, Banqiao, and Bonian, and gradually developed a handsome, free and easy, passionate artistic style. In the early days, I focused on painting monkeys, which are lifelike and unique. Work part-time on figures, landscapes, flowers, feathers. Even making lanterns and kites is also ingenious.
