TENMYOUYA HISASHI

  • TENMYOUYA HISASHI, Japanese contemporary artist, born in Tokyo. He invented a unique pictorial expression called "Neo-Nihonga", which translates traditional Japanese painting into the modern age, and founded the "Butoh-ha" school, which uses painting to fight against the authoritarian art system. He calls this rebellious and hegemonic lineage of beauty "BASARA" and develops works based on his unique concept of directly linking the Japanese cultural axis with the historical axis and dynamically altering art history.
