  • Yao Youchao

    Yao Yuchao, named Qing, was born in 1841 in Renhe, Zhejiang (now Hangzhou). His father did not hold a government post, but instead spent his days enjoying poetry and drinking, and was good at painting the Six Laws and butterflies. When he was young, he inherited his home school and spent every day painting. After that, he learned painting from Zhao Zhiqian, a famous painter in Hangzhou.
