Wu Jiezhai

Wu Jiezhai, also known by the pseudonyms Zeng Bao and Kuo Chan, and also called Lao Jiao Shanren, was a native of Hangzhou. He lived in Huai Shang for many years before returning to Hangzhou in his later years. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, he achieved the position of a secondary scholar in the Zhejiang provincial examinations. He was skilled in painting flowers and plants with bold brushwork and vivid colors, resembling the style of Wu Changshuo but with a unique charm. He also possessed deep skill in the "eight-part" style of calligraphy.
