Wang Siwen

  • Wang Siwen, styled Ruzhi, was from Yin County in Siming (now part of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province). He passed the imperial examination and became a jinshi in the second year of the Zhenghe era. He held the position of Shaoqing in the Taifu (Board of Rites). Wang was known for his kindness and philanthropy, often helping the distressed and supporting the needy. He assisted in funeral arrangements for those who had no means to bury the deceased, earning the praise of his fellow villagers. He was also fond of promoting and supporting talented individuals. His son, Wang Dayou, passed the imperial examination in the 15th year of the Shaoxing era. Wang Siwen's eldest daughter was married to Lou Qu. After his death, his biographical account was written by Shi Hao, and his epitaph was written by Sun Di.
