Ma Ang, courtesy name Yunshang, and art name Tui Shan, was from Wu County (now Suzhou), Jiangsu. He was renowned for his landscape paintings, especially in the blue-and-green style, and was also skilled in painting flowers, birds, and figures, mastering these subjects thoroughly. The Palace Museum holds his fan painting of blue-and-green landscape, created in the 11th year of the Yongzheng reign (1733). He was still active in painting in the first year of the Qianlong reign (1736) at the age of 82. For further references, see *Wu County New Records* and *National Dynasty Painting Records*.
